From this Autumn up to 500 people across Frimley Health and Care will be able to access a free ground-breaking diabetes programme.
Frimley Health and Care is one of 10 national test sites for the new Low Calorie Diet, supporting people to improve their diabetes control, reduce diabetes-related medication and even achieve remission (no longer have diabetes).
The pilot programme is led by NHS England and is based on methods which have proven extremely successful in improving the health of diabetes patients. It uses ‘Total Diet Replacement’ to achieve significant weight loss for those taking part.
Patients can only be referred to the programme by their GP and will need to meet a range of strict criteria to qualify. Anybody interested in taking part will need to discuss this with their GP.
There are 500 places available across Frimley Health and Care, with GPs in East Berkshire and Surrey Heath able to refer to the programme now and referrals from GPs in North East Hampshire and Farnham from October 1st 2020.
