Update on Farnborough Centre for Health building work

Whilst many projects have been impacted by Covid-19 we are really pleased to be able to share with you a progress update from one of our key projects which has been able to be safely progressed. Construction work started at Farnborough Centre for Health on 20 April 2020 and work is expected to be completed at the end of August 2020.

Voyager Family Health GP Practice, Farnborough Integrated Care Team, Community Nurse Team and Talk Plus will be moving to the new premises in September 2020.

The project will deliver the remodel, refurbishment and internal fit-out of Voyager House, Apollo Rise, in Southwood, to create a new Health Centre for the people of Farnborough and the new housing developments, particularly Hartland Village which will eventually have over 1500 new homes.

We thought you would like to see some behind the scenes images as the transformation takes place.

Progress to date:

  • Strip out and demolition is complete
  • Mechanical and electrical second fix is currently on program
  • External Drainage Works complete
  • Partition walls are complete.

Covid -19 Impact on construction teams:

Safety Reviews are taking place at appropriate points throughout the project to ensure the principals of prevention are being applied on this scheme, in order to comply with Government advice.

An independent Health & Safety Advisor is inspecting the site regularly and undertaking regular Covid-19 toolbox talks with the teams.

Onsite managers are protecting the workforce and minimising the spread of infection through limiting the number of people on site at any one time, social distancing and use of appropriate PPE.

Covid-19 Impact on healthcare teams:

As we work to offer access to healthcare teams, infection control measures and protocols will be introduced for all healthcare and support staff working within the building including:

  • Appropriate PPE
  • Regular cleaning of surfaces and equipment
  • Perspex screen to the reception desk
  • Restricted access
  • Separation and space
  • Triage of all patients

Well done to all the team involved in keeping this project moving – we look forward to a virtual tour once the centre is open.
